Art critic and author, Carl Little, has written a profile about me and my work in the current issue (July/August) of Maine Boats, Homes and Harbors, “Michael Torlen, Tied to the Sea.” About one painting from the “Ocean Blues” series, Warning Skies, (not reproduced in the article), Little writes, “While Warning Skies may allude to the fires brought about by climate change, it also references the sailor’s “red sky at night” adage. These are gorgeous images of sea and survival.”
